The effect is stunning. Immersion is total.

Inside the headset

What the visitor
actually sees

On the left, the scene as it is rendered on the monitor. On the right, the stereoscopic frame sent to the DK2 — two barrel-distorted views, one per eye, at 75 Hz.

Normal view — the crater near Rosemont by night, as rendered on the monitor.

The original
location

The scenario takes place in a real crater near the « Rosemont chapel », on the slopes of the Piton de la Fournaise. The crater was photographed on site, rebuilt in 3D, and integrated into the simulator so that lava could flow over its detailed ground.

The eruptive cone you see inside it does not exist. It was grown by the particle simulation, on top of the real topography.
